Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa is a 1993 Indian Bollywood film directed by Kundan Shah. Shahrukh Khan plays the role named Sunil. The film also stars Suchitra Krishnamurthy, Naseeruddin Shah and Deepak Tijori. This is one of the rare mainstream Hindi movies in which the hero plays the role of a loser, and has been considered one of Shahrukh Khan's best performances.

This is a film that all the cinegoers are waiting with a bated breath. And it's directed by none other than the man who gave us hits and smash hits like Damini, The Legend Of Bhagat Singh and Khakee to name a few! We are indeed talking about the Ranbir-Katrina starrer Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani that's directed by Rajkumar Santoshi.

And as the 'tradition' goes, we once again bring you one of the biggest news regarding this film. After having discovered that APKGK has Ranbir playing a depressed lover-boy hopelessly in love with his character inspired by the one played by his late grandfather Raj Kapoor in Mera Naam Joker, we went one notch further and found out that the Salman Khan will be seen in a guest appearance in the film. The source also added that Sallu bhai comes only towards the end of the film.

In order to confirm the news, when we spoke to producer Ramesh Taurani of Tips, he was totally taken aback with this info. Initially he exclaimed, "Where did you guys get this information from?" On further probing, he confirmed the news by saying "Yes, Salman is indeed there in the film, but only as a cameo."

Salman Khan had earlier worked with Rajkumar Santoshi in the cult comedy Andaaz Apna Apna which also starred Aamir Khan.

Now Sallu's presence further adds to the anticipation of Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani.

UTV joins hands with Prakash Jha for his next film Rajneeti. Over the years Prakash Jha Productions has made several critically acclaimed and popular films including Apaharan, Gangaajal, Mrityudand and Damul.

The starcast of the film includes Nana Patekar, Ajay Devgan, Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpai, Katrina Kaif and Naseeruddin Shah. The first schedule of the film has been completed and second schedule is likely to begin soon. The film is slated for release in the first half of 2010.

"Rajneeti was an easy decision as it is the mother of all dramas with politics as the background and who is more adept and accomplished than Prakash Jha to pull off a film based on politics. Prakash has always believed in the concept of 'Cinema with Power' and we look forward to a great story with Rajneeti too. I am sure this wonderful association will be fruitful to both the parties. Double Oscar winner A.R.Rahman is known to be a very shy and introvert kind of a person. Hence, it took us by surprise when we saw Rahman feature in a video of American hip-hop singer Akon.

The video called 'Beautiful' features Rahman for just a couple of seconds. The Music Maestro is seen posing with a bevy of models and smiling in his trademark coy way. The video also features American pop singer Colby O'Donis and Canadian hip hop artist Kardinal Offishall

Karan Johar's Dharma Productions has signed an exclusive worldwide distribution deal with UTV Motion Pictures for its next two releases. The deal includes theatrical, home video, overseas, satellite and all other new media distribution rights. The two films namely Wake Up Sid and Rensil D'Silva's yet untitled film are slated to release in the second half of 2009.

Wake Up Sid is directed by Ayaan Mukerji and stars Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona Sen Sharma. The music of the film has been composed by the celebrated trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. While the Rensil D'silva film stars Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Vivek Oberoi and the music has been scored by Salim-Sulaiman.

True friendships in this industry, known to worship only the rising sun and spiraling sensex, are rare. So when one hears of Farah Khan setting aside her resolve to relinquish the pleasures of choreography for motherhood, domesticity and direction (in that order) for friendship's sake, one's heart soars with joy.

Debutante director Anthony D'Souza who shot a very complicated item song with Kylie Minogue and the rest of the cast for Blue, takes you by surprise when he says Farah Khan not only agreed to come out of her extended maternity leave to do the song she also refused to charge any money.

"We've the cheque ready. But she won't accept it. Farah won't take any money for the Kylie Minogue song, although it's a very lengthy and taxing number. She says she can't charge me because I'm a very old and dear friend."

Anthony and Farah have known each other for 18 years. "I first got to know her in 1991. I made ads and music videos. She went on to make a name for herself as a choreographer and then a filmmaker. I had decided she'd choreograph for me when I turn director. When this complicated number came my way I knew it was Farah's call. But I didn't know she'd insist on doing it for free," says the director emotionally.

The number acquires a special distinction because it would be the first Hindi song composed by A R Rahman after the Oscars, and that too featuring an international artiste.

"The number was very intricately filmed. It starts off with Kylie then all the other members of the cast are brought in. I'd have paid Farah any amount to choreograph it," says Anthony emotionally.

There has been a bit of a health scare at the Roshan's residence when on the evening of the Filmfare awards Hrithik's mom fell ill. But now Pinky Roshan is well on the way to recovery. Informs Hrithik, "She's well now. Everything will be fine in time. But she's okay now."

Hrithik regrets missing out on getting his Filmfare award for Jodhaa Akbar. "It was a special film on many counts. It was my first historical and costume drama and I'm unlikely to do another of this for a long time. Jodhaa Akbar was radical departure from anything I've done so far. And I couldn't have asked for a better culmination after two years of grueling hard work."

Alas, God had other plans. On the evening of the awards mom Pinky Roshan fell ill. Says Rakesh Roshan, "We were all getting ready for the Filmfare awards, looking forward to Hrithik bringing home another trophy when my wife complained of uneasiness. We couldn't take a risk because she has had a heart scare earlier."

However, contrary to reports the first lady of the Roshan household didn't have to be rushed to a hospital. "It never came to that," says Rakesh Roshan. "We called the doctor home and Pinky's condition was under control after medication. Anything could've happened. That's why we decided to regretfully cancel our evening at the Filmfare awards. But I'm sure there will be many more occasions for Hrithik to get awards. And please pray that my entire family attends future Filmfare functions."

The Slumdog Millionaire (SM) producers - Fox-Searchlight now want to make a film with Irrfan in the lead.

Says Irrfan, "The studio head Peter Rice came to me and said he'd now like to make a film with me in the lead. Do you know Peter Rice is responsible for the film's release? Otherwise it was going straight into a DVD release. Danny Boyle was in a panic mode and was ready to take the DVD offer. But the makers decided to take the film to Toronto and show it to Fox-Searchlight. They chased me all over the world to get some lines re-done, took the film to Toronto. Luckily, Fox-Searchlight loved SM."

Irrfan can't stop marveling at what is happening to the film. "Look at destiny. Look at the kids! People are going mad over Freida Pinto. The photographers won't leave her in peace for even a second. Freida has signed Woody Allen and Dev Patel has signed Manoj Shyamalan. We're going to see much more Bollywood-Hollywood collaborations in future."


Back in Mumbai, Irrfan Khan and Oscars-winner Resul Pookutty had to be whisked hurried out on a police van from Mumbai's airport. "When we landed we had no idea what crowds were waiting for us until we were told it was difficult for us to step outside. We had leave in a police van."

Recalling the Oscars experience Irrfan says, "We never doubted that Slumdog Millionaire would get the Oscars. The minute we stepped on to the red carpet at the Kodak theatre they were shouting our names. The mood was, how could you not give this film the Oscars? Our producers Fox -Searchlight were really anxious. They got the Best Film Oscar after 40 years. I think the kids in SM did the trick. They won over the global audiences' hearts. We grown-up actors were the bonus."

The fruits of the Slumdog Millionaire (SM) experience at the Oscars and global box-office are already ripening.

While Anil Kapoor seemed to be enjoying every second of his glamorous avtar on the red carpet, Irrfan says he's very much ill-at-ease doing it. "I love going to film festivals. But not to these red-carpet thingies."

Recalling his touchdown at the Mumbai airport after the Oscars Irrfan says, "I felt like the bridegroom at a baraat. It was so moving. The reception I got at the Mumbai airport was equal to any Oscar."

He recalls his association with Resul Pookutty who won the Oscar. "Resul and I started our careers at the same time. Resul kept working silently for a decade. He deserves this recognition. As for me I was pleasantly surprised to be recognized in LA as the actor from The Namesake and A Mighty Heart."

In fact Irrfan has been selected by Forbes magazine as one of the 6 Bollywood faces that have made an impact in Hollywood.

"That was news to me, and very pleasant news at that. I've waited long for this recognition. I became a recognizable name abroad after The Namesake. But I wish it had happened after Warrior. In the truest sense it changed my life. It came at a time when I was losing heart regarding the roles coming my way. I was thinking of changing professions. I was quite bored. I became an actor to explore my emotions and go beyond the mundane, like Dilip Kumar and Naseeruddin Shah did. I wanted to experience something magical. Warrior gave me that chance."

The Awards season has begun in full swing and this time, apart from keenly following the results of awards such as Screen Awards, Stardust Awards and the recently held Filmfare Awards, Indians world over have even been actively keeping track of popular international awards such as the Golden Globes, the BAFTAs and of course the Big Daddy of them all- the Oscars.

The reason for this is Danny Boyle's much talked about Slumdog Millionaire which has been pocketing awards by the dozen. The film, which stars a principal Indian star cast and is majorly shot in Mumbai, has been the toast of the nation and the world courtesy its winning streak at award function. The west has now started recognizing our pool of talent after Indians like A.R.Rahman, Gulzar and Resul Pookutty bagged the Oscars.


Keeping this very situation in mind, this artist paints a funny picture of a bunch of hard-nosed goras eagerly following the Filmfare awards and wondering if they would get to see anyone from Hollywood bag a Filmfare just like the way our 3 musketeers (A.R.Rahman, Gulzar and Resul Pookutty) took home the Oscars.
