Ken rubbishes rumours that he made the change overnight as he didn't like the rushes of whatever had been shot of Jiah so far. And he stresses that he would love to work with the spunky actress in future projects.
"Jiah is a very good actress and has her own space where she performs really well. She being replaced has nothing to do with her capabilities as an actress. She is very good at what she does and I'm 100 percent sure that I will rope her in again when an opportunity comes," said Ken.
So how did Genelia come into the picture?
"Honestly speaking, it was the sea change in the female protagonist's character that drove me to make the change. Earlier the character was a lot hotter and Jiah fitted the bill. Now she's turned much cuter and Genelia turned out to be the perfect choice," Ken explained.
"At the end of the day Jiah and Genelia are quite different, whether in terms of looks or attitude. There is a different kind of energy expected from the newly-written character and I'm getting that from Genelia," he added.
Produced by UTV Motion Pictures, the film also stars Shahid Kapur. The director said they were yet to zero in on a good title, but added that it would not be called "Yahoo" as reported in a section of the media.
Ken, who has earlier made films like " Ishq Vishk " and " Fida ", says he didn't want to talk earlier about Genelia replacing Jiah as it could have led to misunderstandings.
"I didn't comment anything on record earlier since whatever I would have said, that would have been misconstrued. There were speculations of all kinds doing the rounds and there was no point clarifying or justifying my stand," he said.
After shooting for a substantial portion of the film, Jiah was obviously disturbed at being replaced.
"Of course it was quite painful for her but then we had to look at the final results. Frankly, it didn't make sense for Jiah too to enact this new character and I'm sure she too agrees on this," Ken said.
What has been the impact of the replacement on the film's budget?
"We should be able to ascertain the cost once the film is ready because shooting is just one part of it. However, in terms of shooting days, Genelia coming in would only impact around 9-10 days of shooting. These too won't be directly proportional to the cost incurred in our earlier days of shooting. Overall, we have just another 28-29 days of shooting left; so it's not much of a problem after all," Ken said.
Bollywood actor Hurman S. Baweja starrer " Echo of Eco ", a documentary on global warming, was screened at the ongoing 62nd Cannes Film Festival. The actor says such films give creative satisfaction.
Critically acclaimed director Pan Nalin has made the documentary and it was screened Tuesday for select guests at Hotel Carlton.
"I'm honoured to be a part of a film like this that's supported by the UN and has Pan Nalin directing it. At the same time, the film is very challenging. That's what prompted me to be a part of this film. These films give creative satisfaction," said Hurman, who is currently working on his upcoming venture " What's your Rashee? "
" Echo For Eco " is one of the 30 films backed by United Nations for the Visual project that invited filmmakers to volunteer to make "Save Our Environment" documentaries.
Nandana Sen sustained a serious hip injury while shooting a fight sequence for " Prince " with Vivek Oberoi but the actress is determined to wrap up the film before going for surgery.
"These things happen during a film. Can't be avoided. My joint has sustained a major labrium tear. Only surgery can rectify it, and the soonest possible," said Nandana.
Nandana, who was seen in films like " My Wife's Murder ", " Tango Charlie " and " Black ", got temporary surgery done so that her shooting doesn't get disrupted.
"It was a bit complicated and very painful. Steroid was administered directly into the injury track by scanning machines. It should work for two weeks," she said.
Although her worried family has advised her against it, Nandana hopes to complete " Prince " in these two weeks before going for the surgery.
"I don't want the shooting to suffer. But I'm suffering. (Singer) Shakira was right - hips don't lie," said the actress who was in the news for the controversial nude scenes in Ketan Mehta's forthcoming film " Rang Rasiya ".
Actor Shahid Kapur, who had taken a fancy to bikes and splurged Rs.1.5 million on one, has now found a new interest. He has been attracted to photography.
Shahid has purchased a new expensive camera, the D50 from Cannon.
"Cameras are not allowed on sets usually. But, lately Ken Ghosh and Ahmad Khan get blinded by flashes on the sets of one of Shahid's ventures, only to realise that it was none other than the actor taking candid shots without their knowledge, much to the unit's amusement," said a source.
Apart from Ghosh's untitled film, the actor is also busy shooting for Vishal Bharadwaj's "Kaminay" with Priyanka Chopra.

“I did a safari in Singita, did a thrilling Hot air balloon trip, went to the Lion Park and actually played with the Cubs, something unusual. It was amazing to see a wild animal in such a vulnerable playful state, trust me they weren’t tame. Fed ostriches and got pecked by one! And also fed a giraffe, they have the longest purple tongues, wrapped it around my hand, leaving its saliva all over it, Eeow! But what fun.” she signs off.
Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori are in Cannes to launch their film in front of an international audience. The couple looks delighted by the way their film has shaped up, though are a bit apprehensive about the kissing and love making scene in it.
Barbara in a thick Spanish accent admitted, “When I came to India and saw few Hindi films I realized actors here don’t kiss onscreen. They just come close and hug! I then wondered how will the audience in India accept the film as Hrithik and I have kissed and made love in the film! I told Hrithik about it and he made me feel comfortable about it. I didn’t know him before I signed Kites but I googled and searched him on You Tube. Only when I reached India and saw the massive stardom and fan following he enjoys did I realize how big a star he is.”
Hrithik added, “A lot has been said about the kissing scene in Kites but let me tell you the film is not about sex, lust, passion, animal instincts. It is a beautiful sensual love story. As far the kiss is concerned, I was trying my best to make Barbara comfortable while she in return was trying to do the same.”
The film is slated to release in India in October this year.

Celina Jaitley was shocked when she learnt that her pictures from a photo shoot have been morphed to titillate and are being used by a website to sell gadgets. Livid at such crass misuse of her pictures in which the words on her panty reads 'Slide to unlock', Celina has taken the matter to the cyber crime department.
A miffed Celina said, “This is the price one has to pay to be part of the glamour world. When I got to know about it, I personally checked the website. I could not believe it, the pictures were gross. I have heard that these things happen but using my picture to sell some stuff on the Net is disgusting. We have already informed the cyber crime department and they will soon take action against whosoever is responsible for this shameful act.”
A source said, “Celina has spoken to her security agency managed by Ronit Roy and they have registered a complaint with the cyber crime department. She recalled that the pictures on the website are the ones for which she had shot more than a year ago. Back then, she had issues with the photographer because of which she had walked out of the shoot. In spite of following up with the photographer for over a year, he refused to part with the pictures. Looks like he sold these pictures to smalltime agencies, which passed them on to the website.”
Celina added, “I remember when I had shot for the pictures. I trust the cops and will wait for the law to take its own course.”

With IPL being the flavour of the season, it becomes needless to say that each and every 'Bollywoodian-turned-IPL custodian' got transformed into spotlight's darling. If the last season of IPL saw many a hugs, tears, trials and tribulations, this year promises to be a 'Long' extended celebration from of last year as 'Miss Long Legs' Shilpa Shetty puts her business acumen to test, by partnering with 'Rajasthan Royals'. And it is this same actress-cum-model-cum-international star-cum-businesswoman-cum-everything in between Shilpa who has been featured on this month's 'Blender' magazine!
Now this leggy dame comes full circle as she gets candid with the hip music and entertainment magazine 'Blender' in a no holds bar conversation. What's more is that the mag is adorned with the lass in a well 'blended' outfit that goes that extra mile in accentuating her already famous curves.
Also in this month's issue be ready to see the biggest hits and hitters of the IPL, and for some eye candy to heat up the already hot summer is a list of the sexiest rock and roll babes.
Feroz Khan's distraught youngest brother, Akbar Khan, says they had been preparing themselves for Feroz's death.
The entire family was gathered in Bangalore for Feroz Khan's funeral which took place on Monday at 5 pm. The funeral procession left at around 2 pm from Feroz's farm house after the afternoon prayers.
"The entire family was here towards his end literally feeding him out of our hands," says the grief-stricken sibling. "And he enjoyed his glass of wine in the evenings with us till the end. He was a very loving friend and bhai."
Said Akbar, "We buried him next to our mother. It's unfortunate that we couldn't bring him back to Mumbai for so many of his friends and well-wishers to see him for the last time. But his last wish was to lie eternally next to our mother in our home town near Bangalore. And we had to fulfill that wish."
Restraining his grief, the youngest Khan sibling says, "He was much loved by all his friends and colleagues. Contrary to his flamboyant image, he was a very gentle sensitive soul. Even in his frail condition towards the end, he'd get up from his chair to greet each one of us in the family, no matter how old or young. He was a friend first, then a father-figure."
"He was fearless even when faced with death," says Akbar. "He was the apple of our mother's eyes. All of us five brothers and two sisters looked up to him. We've lost a father-figure. He's relieved of his pain. But he was fearless till the end. He didn't even fear death. He'd always be with us."
Emraan Hashmi was in a for a rude shock when he received a call from his bank HSBC about some heavy-duty transactions made on his credit card on April 26th and 27th . The transactions amounted to nearly Rs. 2 lakh and a stunned Hashmi had no choice but to lodge a police complaint.
Apparently around 11 transactions were done on the above mentioned 2 dates and strangely Emraan had himself done none of them. Most of these transactions were for purchase of airline tickets said the bank authorities.
While the police are yet to figure out the person behind this crime, Emraan is surely not amused one bit. In fact the actor is very upset with this whole incident and wants the miscreant to be caught and punished as soon as possible.
